A place for your perspective

Explore YAC at your own pace. You don’t need to share a personal story to contribute.

YOUNG PEOPLE HELP SHAPE THE WORK

More than a seat
at the table.

YAC brings young people into conversations about youth justice in Washington—and creates a path from ideas to recommendations and responses.

Gabriel’s Challenge Community Coalition coordinates the work with the Washington State Partnership Council on Juvenile Justice and OJJ/DCYF partners. Participation in YAC is separate from a Governor-appointed Council seat.

Our wider mission connects healthcare, education, and justice partners through Advancing No Wrong Door. This YAC project focuses on youth advisory coordination and leadership.

AT YOUR PACE, WITH SUPPORT

After acceptance, meet the group, review your choices, and get help with access and orientation.

LEADERSHIP, IN YOUR VOICE

Space to learn.
Room to grow.

Explore communication, collaboration, advocacy, and how decisions get made.

The twelve-module curriculum connects personal leadership with community action. Member learning resources are accessed through your workspace after acceptance. You don’t need to arrive with all the answers.

FROM PERSPECTIVE TO POSSIBILITY

Ideas deserve
a next step.

Listen together. Explore the issue. Shape recommendations.

Young people help identify priorities, build shared understanding, and develop recommendations about youth justice in Washington. Public updates will distinguish youth recommendations, partner responses, and changes that have actually happened.

There are no published council updates here yet.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

It’s okay to have questions.

Do I have to share my personal story?

No. You can contribute ideas, ask questions, and work with others without sharing personal or traumatic experiences.

What happens after I express interest?

A staff review and an authorized selection decision come before membership access. The preview shows this process; it is not accepting real applications.

Can I participate another way?

The planned application routes include phone, paper, and assisted options. The program’s contact and coverage arrangements will be confirmed before recruitment opens.
